Women of Color Dominating Magazine Stands and Ad Campaigns

Summer 2014 has been the season for women of color to shine on the covers of magazines and in ads as spokeswomen/models for high-end designers. Haven’t noticed? Check out who’s been representing this summer.

Academy Award winning actress, Lupita Nyong’o landed the cover of Vogue’s July issue. She also was named People Magazine’s most beautiful person in April.

41-year-old hottie, Cameron Diaz looks amazing in her August spread and cover in Esquire. As you may know, Diaz is of Cuban descent (hence her last name).

Actress, author and businesswoman, La La Anthony gives Latina magazine a flawless August cover. Although it is not her first time on their cover, she talks about her marriage, her friends, and her new book in this issue.

Rihanna poses in traditional Arabian garments in her July/August spread in Harper’s Bazaar Arabia. This dare devil is known for her ability to take risks, but she proves that she can really pull off any look in this spread.

In June, Alicia Keys was named the new face of Givenchy’s new fragrance, Dahlia Davin which will launch in September. It’s always great to see a woman of color and a bi-racial one at that, given the opportunity to lead a campaign of such a prestigious company.

This Albanian pop star is not only the modern day Marilyn Monroe in Roberto Cavalli’s AW14 campaign, but Rita Ora also stars in the ad of DKNY’s new fragrance, ‘My NY,’ which was announced earlier today.
