Hello Klassy girls and guys, I’m coming to you with my first review of a salon I was serviced by. Disclaimer: Please note that this review only reflects my personal opinion, and that the feature strictly states facts about the salon and the owner. I was not paid to review this salon.
Owner of House of Hair Extensions & Weaves
House of Hair DMV, located in Temple Hills, Maryland is a full-service hair salon that specializes in anything from weaves to makeup. The salon is comprised of many hair stylists and the owner of HOHDMV, Savanna T., 29.
Before owning her own salon, Savanna was employed at a franchise that specialized in the $50 weave. “I was kind of ready to branch off and do my own thing,” says Savanna. She said that the business model of the franchise she was working for also differed greatly from that of the DC, Maryland, Virginia area; so she decided to branch off and create her own business that would better accommodate DMV residents.
In 2013, Savanna opened HOHDMV, but still featured the $50 weave. The $50 weave is meant to be quick, and not as versatile as a more expensive install. However, the $50 weave has still been worn by some customers for over a month, according to Savanna. But, Savanna recently changed her business model again from commission-based to booth rent so that her stylists saw more flexibility. Now, she’s seeing even more clients visit the salon.
HOHDMV also accepts walk-ins from Tuesday to Saturdays, so the salon doesn’t really have a most popular service. “One week we’ll have girls walk in and ask for all vixens (versatile sew-in that allows client to put their hair into a ponytail/bun and other styles) and the next everybody wants to color their hair,” says Savanna.
Although the salon accepts walk-ins, Savanna prefers that clients make an appointment, or at least call before coming in so that they don’t have to wait.
In addition, Brit Waters from the Russ Par Morning Show on WKYS 93.9 is a client at HOHDMV. “Whenever she needs hair hair done, she comes here. We have a cool relationship,” says Savanna.
Savanna plans on expanding her business to different areas, but she isn’t quite sure of which locations yet, and as far as stylists go, each one has a forte.

My experience at HOHDMV was a pretty good one. The stylists and Savanna were friendly, and I am very pleased with how my hair turned out. The braids under my sew-in are extremely neat, and the sew-in itself feels very secure and flat. Royal_weaveness installed my hair, Savanna T. braided my hair down, and Jessica cut my bob exactly the way I wanted it. The only cons about my experience are that I had to provide my own hair when I was told that hair would be provided, and also that my leave out didn’t really blend as well as I wanted it to when I left. However, I was able to get it to blend with a flat iron that is great for natural hair. If I had to rate my experience, I would give it a 3/5 stars. The stylists are extremely talented, the only thing I would suggest is better communication with clients.
