Change of Plans

It’s no surprise that we all want to excel in life- “make it.” We want to be the best in all areas of our lives: spiritually, mentally, and financially; in a good place with our friends, family, and relationships. But how do we stay humbled in our goals when today’s society is always in competition with each other? Since when did the world become so cold and centered toward being a one-man-team? We see memes saying “their circle is so small…” and “trust no one.”

Now keep in mind, I’m not saying that you have to be BFF’s with everyone. I’m also not saying that some people don’t have negative agenda’s. I am, however, saying that it seems like we have forgotten to uplift, encourage, and help each other out with our goals.

Let’s remind ourselves the benefit of doing this:
Well one, it’s what God asks of us. In Philippians 2:1-4 MSG, it says, “…Do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.“
Two, It create peace and harmony within us, it’s good for the soul. And I know we have all heard of karma. 😉

So let’s continue 2016 with a different mindset. These tips will help to move society’s viewpoint from being self-centered to being more global.
• Stop comparing yourself to others. Remember, someone will always come up short when you compare. The goal is to get everyone ahead, not to go backwards.
• Link w/ someone in the position where you want to be and learn from them. Discourage trying to “bring others down” because of jealousy. There is nothing wrong with getting good information from a source that has already been there. Hey, they could even learn something from you too!
• Don’t shy from linking with people who could benefit from your knowledge also. Offer a helping hand, say something nice about someone, and show them that they are important.

Moral of the story- Remain humble and use your skills and benefits to help someone else. Use this year to take yourself off the agenda and put others first. Do nothing out of selfish ambition.
Friendly reminder: Love Gods people as He loves them. God will resist pride and give favor to the humble.

Words with Love,

Ms. Aja Gibbs
