Reclaim Your Inner Heroine

Hey Queens,

I apologize for this post being a day late, but this weekend was very busy! Anyways, today’s blog post is title is the same as REDEFINE Woman’s tagline for a significant reason. We queens need to reclaim our inner SHEro. What do I mean by this? Well, we all have a heroine inside of us. She’s strong, courageous, empowered and a whole list of other adjectives.

We queens are much more than our breasts, hips and butts. We literally can bring life into the world; which is one of the most amazing things about us. We have all the power and we know this, but most times don’t use this power correctly. Instead of using our power to demand respect from others (especially men), we use our sexuality to seduce and to even climb the latter of status. Some of our inner heroines might in fact be in a place of hiding or haven’t even been discovered yet. Well, I’m writing this today to help you find yours today.

The main reason why I created this platform was to focus on all aspects of womanhood, but specifically the inner qualities, and not so much our physical appearance. Society tells us what we should look like, how we should dress, and what we can do to get and “keep” a man. But, society doesn’t tell us or even try to teach women how to be beautiful on the INSIDE. So much focus is put on the exterior and what we can do to satisfy men, that it seems like we care less about what we can do to become a better person, and more about how they can get a bigger butt and a 23 inch waist. No I’m not saying that taking care of our physical self is wrong, but that’s just a one dimensional view of what we have to offer. We should be working on ourselves as a WHOLE: mind, body, and spirit.

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13

This is one of my favorite passages in the Bible because it reminds me that my passion is not in vain. I think that many of our queens need to ponder and meditate on this scripture because life would be so much easier knowing the promise God has for us. God already had plans for us before we were born. Crazy right? Well, according to this scripture his plan is to help us prosper and not to harm us, and if we seek him, we will find our answers to the questions we might have about the future. However, today we have skipped past the part of seeking God. We have created our own destinies, and a great number of us have reached our goals using tactics that aren’t so pleasing to the Father. Using our bodies as leverage is never a good idea. Work hard for what you want. Yes, it will probably take years to accomplish what your desire, but that’s OK. Enjoy the journey. You only live once. Don’t take the easy way out by using your physical appearance to gain a following and “credibility” so that you can quickly make money and reach a new level of status.

If we have a passion and goals, they are implanted into our Spirit of a reason. The desires of your heart come from God. This means that the plan God has for our lives will never be something that we are completely against. It will align with our passion and talents. So seek God, and he will direct every step.

Queens, reclaim your inner heroine. Let her shine! Realize that your inside matters just as much as your outside (maybe more).

Xoxo, Jess
