Happy Friday Ladies,
This week was sooo longgg. I dragged in the gym all week long as well. One thing I noticed was the number of people at my gym that were so much older than I was. Now I will be 25 next Sunday and I feel like I’m getting up in age so let’s just take this entire post as relative ok? Lol
With my birthday coming up I started to reflect on this past year of life as I usually do. I began to realize how grateful I am that my mother always kept me active throughout my life. I remember always being in some activity; gymnastics, cheerleading, Girl Scouts (camping/hiking was no joke), swimming lessons, etc. As I got older I joined my high school cheer team and the list just goes on. From there I started to think about how I will stay active as I get older. I always try to get my family to get into exercising as they get older and I find that life gets in the way. I pray that your life never gets to busy to take care of yourself. I pray that you never take this health for granted.
I read an article the other day, with no health related topic, and the write was a woman who had a stroke at 24. I say this because I want my ladies closer to my age to understand that the quicker/ earlier you are to making healthy lifestyle changes will completely alter your life to come. Maybe she didn’t work out. Maybe she had a predisposed condition. Who knows! What I’m saying is to take action now! Our bodies will only slow down if we slow down so stay active. Just like Newton’s Law states, “an object in motion stays in motion, an object as ready stays at rest”. Get up and go!
To my seasoned saints reading you can’t take advantage of this same principle/concept. As we age our muscles get smaller so we have to continually have instances where we can challenge our muscles. Pushing the shopping cart at the grocery store, walking up and down the stairs, sitting and standing are all activities of daily living that some older people are not able to do because they have let their muscles atrophy (get small). I encourage to look up exercises that you can do at home. Start with body weight and work your way up. If you already have conditions like high blood pressure or high cholesterol, by working out you can reverse those! Who knew?! This is why I love preventable healthcare. Getting moving and stay grooving and your body will thank you.
In conclusion, ladies, every second we get older. Every day is a new opportunity to make time for yourself to take care of yourself. Remember that we only get one body and we live in this thing all day long! Why not make it feel and look it’s best?! You’re never too young or too old to take care of yourself.
