Stay Focused.

I feel like my word this year has been focus. God has promised me a lot of achievements this year, however the condition has always been to focus. Therefore, I have re-evaluated my priorities in many different ways to really figure how to be less distracted. I started with deleting social media which really free’d up a lot of free time, believe it or not. I was able to focus on my class assignments, it allowed for more direct communication with close ones, and I overall had a clear head and better grasp on priorities. I’ve been able to also focus on my career and savings goals which required its own level of planning.

However, we do live in a world where temptation and distractions are all around us. It is easy for us to see where other people are at and think we are to be in the same spot; Or we can easily be discouraged when change does not happen at our scheduled pace. But I believe that in the time that I started to feel uncomfortable and anxious about the promise God had gave me, it became the most important time that I remain concentrated.

The time where you feel you are gonna break; Or maybe you feel your work is not gonna be worth it in the end, is the best time to push through! At that moment, when you choose to apply your faith, the magic actually goes into effect.

I love using the analogy of a hermit crab changing shells. As the crab goes through life and grows, it must change through a few different shells depending on its size. Now keep in mind that the shell is a hard exterior to protect the crabs soft interior, as well as protect its meat from predators. So, as the crab grows, its interior begins to get squished and tight inside of the hard shell. As the crab is now feeling uncomfortable, it finds a new shell and goes into hiding under a rock or something to transition from the old shell to the new shell.

However, it is important to note that without the crab feeling uncomfortable in the small shell, it would not know that it is time to change to a new shell. Therefore, keep in mind that being uncomfortable and anxious is a part of change. However, do not let this stop you from reaching your next level. It must also be noted that the crab must go into hiding to create this change. I am not saying that you have to cut yourself off from society, however I do believe it is essential to remove yourself from your current “ways” to transition into a new phase.

As I am patiently going into my next season, I encourage you, too, to be patient and have faith in your victory. No one who gave up is able to tell their story of success.

With love,

Ms. Aja Gibbs
